CG's Biography

 

Mr. Melih Karalar is a career diplomat who is currently serving as Turkish Consul General in Sydney, Australia.

He was born in Ezine, Çanakkale in 1971.

He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Republic of Turkey in 1995. Since then he has assumed responsibilities in various division of the MFA including the Deputy Directorate for Economic Relations as well as Department of Human Resources.

His first diplomatic posting was at the Turkish Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (1997-2001). The second and third posting were the Turkish Embassy in Manila, Philippines (2003-2005) and the Turkish Consulate General in Munich, Germany (2005-2008) respectively. He then served at the Turkish Embassy in Wellington, New Zealand as the Deputy Head of Mission (2010-2014).

He completed his high school education at Burdur Cumhuriyet Lisesi in 1987 and graduated from the Department of Public Administration, Middle East Technical University in 1992.

He is married and has one son.
